Title: A Study on the Design of Interdisciplinary Thematic Reading Discussion and Evaluation of the Chinese Middle School Classic Jane Eyre

Abstract: Interdisciplinarity and evaluation have become focal issues in the field of Chinese language teaching in recent years. Taking the middle school classic Jane Eyre as an example, this paper designs a thematic reading discussion activity around four key stages: theme selection, interdisciplinary task grouping, discussion presentation, and multi-dimensional evaluation. This provides an interdisciplinary case for reference in academic circles. In the theme selection stage, the direction of interdisciplinary themes is determined based on three dimensions: the text itself, student characteristics, and supporting subject information. In the task grouping stage, five groups are established—geography, history and politics, disease research, art research, and feminist studies—with progressive interdisciplinary theme-driven tasks and an overarching general task. The discussion presentation stage includes the implementation process and instructions for presenting results. The evaluation stage combines multiple evaluators with rubrics, linking all four stages together through assessment. Thereby these four stages create a complete activity rooted in the essence of Chinese language teaching while integrating multiple disciplines.
